Psychosis – The Mental State Distorting Reality

A mental state where the person concerned finds the perception of reality distorted. People suffering from the psychosis syndrome may experience hallucinations that could be visual, audio or any other. In addition; such people may also hold such beliefs that are paranoid or disorders of life. 
Symptoms of Psychosis
Some of the marked symptoms of psychosis are –Pronounced mental disorder in the patient. Unusual and often bizarre behavior by the patient.Hallucination and day dreaming. Hearing sounds and seeing things that are not real.It is a symptom of severe mental disorder. Some of the mental problems include schizophrenia and manic depressions. Besides severe depression there could be brain injuries as well.Overdoses of drugs and hallucinogenic drugs like the LSD or mescaline can also create this syndrome. 
Greatest Reason 
While one or more of the reasons stated above could cause the psychosis, the greatest reason always is the stress factor. Excess stress and strains are the gift of modern world for many. Hectic pace of life and fiercely competitive commercial world, intricacies at work place and similar other reasons contribute to stress in people and when such stress becomes unbearable, the person concerned suffers from psychosis. 
Intrinsic Features of Psychosis
For understanding psychosis properly it is necessary realizing its intrinsic features. Psychosis describes a group of highly complex behaviors. In addition to such behaviors it also reflects the experiences of the person suffering from the syndrome.It is not one of the medical explanations by itself. At times psychosis may be confused with other syndromes since the symptoms may look similar. Words or physical conditions may suggest that it is psychosis while it might not be. 
Psychosis is Not Insanity
Psychosis and insanity are not identical things. Insanity is basically a state where the man forgets his stand and realities. On the other hand psychosis is not such state of affair where a person will forget his or her realities. Only thing is that he or she will experience something bizarre that is all the creation of distorted mind rather than any other thing. 
Psychosis should also not be confused with psychopathy that refers to a disorder that is associated with violence as psychosis does not necessarily refer to violence.
